ABOUT RMIQ FOUNDATION

Our Mission:

RMIQ Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in 2010 by a group of concerned parents who wanted to minimize the impact of the California budget crisis on the quality of our children’s education. Directed by a board of parent volunteers, the mission of the foundation is to enhance the educational environment for all children at Moulton Elementary School.

Our Vision:

We accomplish our mission by raising funds from parents and the community to provide resources that fill a significant gap in educational funding that is not provided by federal, state, school district or PTA budgets. With these additional resources every child at Moulton is provided an improved learning opportunity with reduced student/ teacher ratios for a period of time throughout the school year.

School Unity:

RMIQ Foundation works together in cooperation with our parents, Principal, teachers and PTA to accomplish our common goals of achieving excellence in education at Moulton Elementary School.

2017-2018 FUNDING PROGRAM

For the 2017-2018 school year, RMIQ Foundation raised just over $45,000 in monetary donations and matching company funds from both the Spring and Fall Campaigns combined. Therefore, RMIQ Foundation was able to fund a 6 week Brain Builders STEM Education Program for Kindergarten through 4th grade, an 8 week Brain Builders STEM Education Program for 5th grade AND hire a Technology Instructional Aide and General Instructional Aide for Kindergarten through 5th grade for the entire school year. The Technology Instructional Aide started employment on the first day of school in August 2017 and the second General Instructional Aide started employment on September 18, 2017.

Brain Builders STEM Education Program is instructed by Brain Builders, an education based company serving Orange County since 2002, which offers classes in engineering with LEGO bricks. Each STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) based program was specifically tailored for each grade level at Moulton and encourages students to apply the concepts they learn to create their own team projects not just build from a set of instructions. This program was tailored for each grade level whereby a section of the class participates in the program while the other section of the class stays with their homeroom teacher to focus on instruction in other core subjects and then swap the next day or later that week.

Brain Builders not only teaches students concepts such as physics, science, and math at their age appropriate level, but the students get to apply the concepts tangibly by engineering with LEGO bricks. Using this STEAM curriculum, students will find out what it really means to “engineer” a project including teamwork, patience, and the satisfaction of completing goals and challenges!

The Technology Instructional Aide has a wide variety of duties to aide in technology education at Moulton. The Technology Aide will manage Moulton’s computer lab and provide daily technology instruction to Moulton students in small groups in their classrooms using the CUSD-provided chrome books (4th and 5th grade only) and PTA-funded chrome books and iPad mini's (Kindergarten through 3rd grade). The General Instructional Aide assists the classroom teacher in all general classroom support needed. These aides work 17.5 hours per week through the last day of school on June 7, 2018. (The Moulton Elementary Principal is responsible for determining and implementing the Aides' schedules.)
